Australian Hotel's Association National Winner

Best Metropolitan Restaurant 2016

News

Last night (November 15th) we were awarded the Best Pub Restaurant (Metro) by The Australian Hotel's Association Victoria at the State Awards for Excellence. This is the second consecutive year we have been honoured in this category, this means a great deal to us being acknowledged by our peers and we feel very fortunate.

On Monday September 12th 2016 we were honoured by The Age Good Food Guide with a Chefs Hat for our restaurant Highline. This really is a dream come true for us and we are humbled to be considered in such esteemed company.

We are proud to announce that as a result of winning The Australian Hotel Association (Vic.) Best Pub Restaurant we have been shortlisted for the National Awards to be held in September.

An unexpected treasure

After being underwhelmed by South Yarra restaurants over a few years of frequent visits how delightful to find Highline over the Railway Hotel nearby in Winsor. The amuse bouche and later surprises were poetry. The menu and the waiters were unpretentious and helpful, such a relief after horrendous experiences locally. Every dish we ordered was beautiful. The decor is very dark but the tables are well lit, the carpet makes hearing possible and the value for money is best in Melbourne which does not mean it is cheap. A satisfying experience.

Great food, wine and experience

Had the full degustation and loved the journey. Great atmosphere, hidden away and quiet. Food was exceptional and the service superb. My wife and I had an anniversary dinner and it was perfect. highly recommended.

Hidden venue presents a delicious surprise

What a treat to enjoy a night out at Highline. An unassuming stairway nestled beside a brightly lit bottle shop takes you upstairs to a cosy venue of tables set with white cloth and wooden centrepieces in a darkened intimate environment. We were greeted by friendly faces and a delightful drinks menus with cocktails arriving promptly at request. A brief but knowledgeable overview of the menu followed, and we quickly chose the six-course degustation journey with matched wines. No stop on the journey disappointed. Information accompanied every wine and meal, and each question was answered with excellent knowledge. The hours passed in no time as we enjoyed our meal - would definitely return to trial the next seasons produce!

Wow! That dessert and wine pairing!

Initially there was a slight mix up with our reservation but the staff were so accomodating and extremely professional to make us feel comfortable. Eric in particular really makes the food and wine pairings come alive. It was a fantastic example of Australian modern cuisine. Wine pairings were amazing. Finally, the desert was incredible and I suggest anyone that tries this takes the wine pairing (wrattonbully pinot gris) to go with it. Can not recommend Highline enough.
